Nourished by the Sun

June 28, 2024 As part of my meditation, I gaze into the sun. It’s a practice I’ve grown deeply connected to, a sacred moment where the rays seem to carry messages only for me. Each time, the visions are unique—different in their beauty, yet always profound.

This time, as the sunlight kissed my eyes, a vivid image emerged: a lightning bolt, jagged and radiant, with three orbs circling it in synchronized rotation. Their movement was mesmerizing, almost magnetic, as if the lightning bolt anchored their dance. The vision reminded me of a crystal surrounded by smaller gemstones, each orbiting with deliberate grace.

The pattern stirred a familiar feeling. I’ve noticed it before—a powerful central figure surrounded by three smaller ones. The resonance of this imagery isn’t lost on me: Earth, the third planet from the sun, orbiting amidst the cosmic family.

I recalled my earliest meditations, when three beings of light would appear. They were unlike anything earthly—pure, radiant, faceless. They formed a circle around me, their hands clasped, creating a barrier of luminous energy. Each time I meditated deeply, they were there, steadfast in their silent guardianship. It was as if they were protectors, encircling me with divine purpose.

This vision brought it all back—the power, the mystery, and the unwavering presence of the unseen forces guiding my journey.

Scientific Explanation
The human brain is an extraordinary organ, capable of generating vivid imagery and sensory experiences during meditation. When meditating while gazing at the sun, retinal stimulation occurs due to light exposure. This can create patterns or shapes perceived in the mind’s eye, often influenced by the brain’s interpretation of light and shadow.

The vision of the lightning bolt and orbs may be attributed to the phenomenon known as phosphenes—visual sensations caused by stimulation of the retina or optic nerve. The rotational movement of the orbs around the bolt could reflect natural eye movement, while the association with figures of light may be a product of deep meditative states. During such states, the brain releases serotonin and dopamine, enhancing feelings of connectivity and heightened awareness.

The recurring imagery of three could also be rooted in cognitive pattern recognition, as the brain instinctively seeks familiar structures, such as triangles or the number three, which are deeply embedded in human psychology and culture.

Spiritual Explanation
From a spiritual perspective, the vision of a central figure with three orbiting beings aligns with ancient esoteric teachings of divine unity and balance. In many traditions, the number three symbolizes harmony, wholeness, and divine order—the trinity in Christianity, the Trimurti in Hinduism, and similar concepts in countless spiritual systems.

The lightning bolt represents power, illumination, and divine intervention, often seen as a direct connection between the heavens and the earth. The three orbs circling it may symbolize the triadic nature of existence: mind, body, and spirit; past, present, and future; or creation, preservation, and destruction.

The beings of light holding hands around the narrator evoke imagery of divine guardianship. Light beings are frequently described in mystical and indigenous traditions as protectors or messengers, bridging the spiritual and physical realms. Their faceless, radiant forms suggest purity and universality, transcending individuality to embody the essence of collective divine energy.

Together, the scientific and spiritual interpretations reveal a deeply layered experience—one that merges the tangible workings of the mind with the intangible essence of the divine.
